An introduction to the UNIX operating system with specific reference to UNIX commands, the UNIX file structure, editors, and shell programming. Includes and introduction to system administration and security.

1. Operate proficiently in a command-line based environment
2. Manage UNIX/Linux files and directories
3. Create and modify files using UNIX/Linux native text editors
4. Write and debug shell scripts
5. Demonstrate an understanding of the UNIX security model
6. Utilize UNIX/Linux utility programs
