Course covers the design and creation of relational databases using the Structured Query Language including performing analysis of data needs, establishing table structures, defining and working with keys, defining field specifications, establishing and working with table relationships, defining business rules, creating views, and managing data integrity.

1. Students should be able to describe the current database design methodology
2. Students should be able to write mission statement and objectives
3. Students should be able to develop correct lists of tables and fields
4. Students should be able to determine candidate and primary keys
5. Students should be able to construct proper field specifications
6. Students should be able to distinguish relationships that exist between entities
7. Students should be able to generate business rules and needed views for a database
8. Students should be able to evaluate data integrity
9. Students should be able to evaluate various aspects of database security
10. Students should be able to generate a database using SQL
