When you downloaded the MySQL Community server a new window probably opened that looks like the image provided here. In that window there will be a file called mysql-x.x.x-osx10.x-xxx.pkg where the actual version numbers are present in place of the x's.

Double click on that icon and follow the installers instructions until the installation is complete.
